📏 What Does 11/0 Mean?

The size code 11/0 (eleven aught) comes from a traditional European system used by glass bead makers in the 1800s. It doesn’t mean that 11 beads fit in an inch—a common myth! In reality, 11/0 Czech seed beads measure about 2.0–2.2 mm, and you’ll usually fit 16–18 beads per inch when strung side by side. The “/0” is simply a code where the higher the number, the smaller the bead (so 15/0 is tinier than 11/0, while 8/0 is larger).
